Electronic Games Industry Business Clinics 2005

Following the SEEDA funded conference and research carried out by Wired Sussex and CENTRIM in 2003, there was a consensus that many games companies in the South East would benefit from guidance on specific business issues, which in turn would help the sector to continue to thrive. A series of business clinics were therefore developed where games companies received bespoke advice from a range of industry experts.

The clinics were aimed at games companies both established and new, as well as non-games companies who were looking to enter the market. The events targeted companies based in or around one of the key ‘games clusters’ in the Southeast region.

The three Games Clinics were held in Brighton, Farnham and Oxford on consecutive weeks in June. Representatives from the games companies were invited to come and pick the brains of five industry experts over current business challenges. Over 35 delegates came to the three clinics receiving the equivalent of 90 hours of consultancy advice.

In this special report by CENTRIM, you will get a flavour of the questions posed and advice that was offered. The identity of the companies is not revealed but there are a number of questions and themes that are common to all of the consultations.
